If it's not Ajanti, what is it?
Ajanti Velliât was founded by Donavon King, born in Brooklyn, New York and shaped by the many cultures of New York State. The brand emerged from an infatuation with fashion and the limitless potential of accessories; not as additions, but as statements.
Each collection is curated through the expansion of possibility, guided by restraint, iteration, and an uncompromising attention to detail. Ideas that do not feel true are abandoned without hesitation. From material selection to packaging, every element is refined across cycles until only what is essential remains.
This process gave rise to the house’s signature pieces:
Kyla — sculptural and refined.
Chéri — effortless, expansive, and intentional.
The name Ajanti Velliât carries no literal translation. Conceptually, it exists at the intersection of Black culture and the highest standards of luxury fashion, standards historically dissected and refined in France for centuries. Ajanti is Black in essence: a name among many that have long been mischaracterized as informal or unprofessional. Velliât, French in origin, speaks to fashion that is sumptuous yet practical.
Together, the name embodies King’s interpretation of Black luxury—meant to be stated, owned, and claimed proudly.
